Pack 48 leadership is sustained through adult volunteers typically from families of the cub scouts. It is imperative that scout families get involved through the variety of leadership roles available in order to sustain a successful cub scout pack that provides an enjoyable experience for all of the scouts.
Pack 48 leadership is organized as follows:
Cub Master
Assistant Cub Master
Pack Committee
Chair
Secretary
Treasurer
Membership and Registration Lead (typically fulfilled by the committee chair)
Awards/Advancement Lead
Web Master
Special Events (facilitated and appointed by the pack committee)
Outdoor Activities Lead (i.e., fall and spring campouts)
Pinewood Derby Lead
Blue and Gold Banquet Lead
Popcorn Fundraiser Lead (i.e., "Popcorn Kernel")
Scout Show Lead
Dens
Den Leaders
Assistant Den Leaders
Den Chiefs (BSA Scouts from local troops)
Many of these leadership roles are discussed on the Scouting.org Website. This provides a general explanation of the requirements, duties, and expectations of each general role with the exception of some of the Pack 48 committee and special events roles defined above. Additionally, Pack 48 specific leadership, Dens (Lions, Tigers, Wolves, Bear), and Webelos roles are discussed with these links, although their content is a bit outdated.
In general, the Pack Committee Chair and the Den Leaders are the most critical to the success of the overall pack and each individual den. Volunteers for these roles must commit the most time and effort out of all the pack leadership; however, these can also be the most rewarding roles as well, especially for the Den Leaders who get the opportunity to help the cub scouts grow from Lion Cub through their Arrow of Light ceremony.
If you are interested in volunteering for any of these roles contact the pack at info@goldenpack48.org or attend one of the monthly committee meetings identified on the pack's calendar to obtain more information.
