If so - then Pack 48 is for you!
Cub Scout Pack 48 is located in beautiful Golden, Colorado. We are organized and run by volunteer parents and family members who want to provide the great experience of Cub Scouting to their kids. The Pack is made up of Dens, which have 8-10 boys and girls organized by grade (K-5) from schools in and around Golden. Each Den has parent Leaders and Assistants that can be parents or older scouts. Pack 48 is a member of the Alpine District, Greater Colorado Council.
You can also reach us at info@goldenpack48.org for more information. We can help you begin your journey as a Cub Scout and Cub Scout Parent!
Want to see what it's all about first? Attend our Pack meetings with no obligation at First United Methodist Church in Golden on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6pm.
Pack 48 follows the standard school year calendar, which starts in August and concludes the following May. There are also several activities during the summer in which the scouts can participate. Dens are determined by grade and meet regularly throughout the year, typically 2-3 times per month, to work on adventures and activities consistent with their cub scout rank. Meeting times are designated by the Den leaders, who will communicate directly with the parents. The Pack meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month with all Dens in attendance. The purpose of the Pack meeting is to communicate information to parents regarding Pack activities as well as hold ceremonies for achievement and advancement of the cub scouts in each Den. The Pack meetings will also be used to hold the various Pack special events planned throughout the year (e.g., Raingutter Regatta, Pinewood Derby, Blue and Gold Banquet). The Pack also hosts fall and spring family campouts designed to provide cub scouts experience in camping in a family focused environment where Mom, Dad, and siblings are encouraged to come along and enjoy the fun. The Pack collects a small, yearly fee (i.e., called recharter) from every cub scout that goes to the Colorado and Alpine District scouting to help pay for the Scout program. The scouts pay for most activities and awards through fundraisers throughout the year (e.g., popcorn sales, Blue and Gold banquet cake auction, camp cards).
A typical scout year looks like the following list of activities. The first couple of months of the scout year can seem daunting, especially for new cub scouts and families, because there are so many activities occurring during this time. Please note that all of these activities are voluntary, so only participate in those that won't overwhelm you and your cub scout right out of the gate.
